Process
Each Suzanna Dai piece blends vintage glamour with modern flair and is delicately hand-crafted with materials sourced and inspired by locations around the world. The collection features a mélange of components, including metal threads, semi-precious stones, glass beads, silk cording, raffia, feathers, and sterling silver. Each design is backed on leather—making the pieces exceptionally lightweight and easy to wear.
Since the brand’s inception in 2009, Suzie has been working with a producer in Mumbai, whose family has been in the beading and embroidery business for over 90 years. Each piece of Suzanna Dai jewelry is painstakingly created by hand and can take anywhere from 24-48 hours to complete. All pieces are designed to have a vintage look; hence, any irregularities should be viewed as a unique part of the design - no two pieces are exactly alike.
Suzie starts the creative process by beading a sample of her design. She then sends the original beaded prototype, sketch of the full design, and colors she wants to use to her manufacturer in India. Her manufacturer replicates her original design with available materials, and sends it back to the Suzanna Dai studio for approval. Once a design is finalized, orders go into production in India, as they are received. India sends small shipments to the US, where each piece is carefully inspected to make sure it is in perfect condition. Finally, it is packed up with a Suzanna Dai pouch and care card, and shipped off to its final destination.
